Satan: His Motives and Methods

Updated: May 31, 2023

Truly, this was a good book. The author has an earnest desire to adequately capture the personage of our adversary as revealed by the word of God. Essentially, his premise is that because we do not properly identify him, we do not recognize what we are up against, and that who he actually is has become a myth.

The author goes throughout this book scripturally sculpting our adversary. He showcases his desire, means, and pursuit in this world. Truly, he’s one who has a plan and a goal in mind to achieve that he affectionately works toward.

“Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass, which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet” (Daniel 7:19). This is a prophecy in the book of Daniel concerning kingdoms and a kingdom that is to come. The kingdoms are pictured as beasts, and this fourth beast (kingdom), which is to come, is to be “diverse from all others.” It is to be “exceeding dreadful.”

The most horrific form of government that we have seen shall not be as what shall be that Satan achieves in the time to come. Communism, Fascism, Natzism, Militarianism, nor mercantilism, none of it shall be what form of the kingdom that Satan shall bring about. And, this horror shall be because it shall be a matter of God removing himself and his people from the earth and letting people have who and what they desire— a Godless world. He shall even remove his Spirit from the earth to allow Satan to completely have his way (II Thessalonians 2:7).

And, the thing about this sad situation is that he shall be ushered in by man.

Onlookers believe that the style of government of that kingdom shall be socialism, where everything is “equal” and “fair.” But the scriptures differ on this assumption because the word says that this beast shall be “diverse from all others.” Many do well in their vigilance (Mark 13:33 “watching and praying”), but whatever is to come shall be worse than socialism.

Briefly, socialism is a matter of the “ haves and have nots.” There’s only a rich and a poor—no middle class. On the surface, socialism sounds grand and righteous. During the 2020 US election, when all the candidates were just focused on getting Trump out of office, much socialism was campaigned to us. One candidate championed paying everyone a certain amount of money every so often to be dispensed by the government. On the surface, this sounds like a gracious idea, but he was campaigning for this atrocious form of government known as socialism. Socialism is truly a form of government that is not desirable. It depletes freedom.

But, even the rich shall suffer in the government that to come. For the word says, “He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword” (Revelation 13:10). This is why God has given me to pen an upcoming title upon finances because this occurrence is known as “warning goes before destruction”: God always sends his word to forewarn or to save before calamity occurs (Proverbs 1:20-33).

This book by Lewis Sperry is entitled Satan: His motives and methods, and it is just that. I enjoyed what I read, and it could help one’s maneuvering also in this world in relation to this one who the word of God calls “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesian 2:2).
