Jesus in the Present Tense

Updated: Feb 11, 2022

I like this book. It's all about my Savior. In this day and hour, we need a very good working knowledge concerning God and who the Son is. For, in regards to the last days, the scriptures say that he said, "Take heed lest any man deceive you: for many shall come in my name saying, ‘I am Christ'; and shall deceive many" (Mark 13:5-6).

So many are coming in the name of Jesus, or God, but their motives and message does not align with him. Even some idea or image of who Christ is does not align with the scriptures. As it was in his day when he walked the earth, so it is even now: "You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, ‘This people draws nigh unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men’" (Matthew 15:7-9).

I enjoy Christ so much, because he was a real one. He's a God of love, and love functions in truth. In this day, so many come in his name but does not come concerning him, nor do they come having the same message as him. And, that is because so many do not know him. They have no fellowship with him (I John 1:6). The Bible says, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:8). There are other gospels today.

Prosperity gospel – This one is very identical of today's church where one's godliness is measured by material possessions: "Unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write . . . I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I would that you were cold or hot. So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold or hot, I will spue you out of my mouth. BECAUSE YOU SAY, I AM RICH, AND INCREASED WITH GOODS, AND HAVE NEED OF NOTHING; and knows not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Revelation 3:14-17). This church of this day pushes a prosperity gospel, which is a gospel mainly focused and centered on riches, where one's measurement of godliness, walking in God's will, or God being pleased with one's life is measured by one's finances and material possessions. Ultimately, this church is focused on self.

Social gospel – This gospel is also present in today's church. It is one that is based on "making the world a better place." Christ dealt with sin. Sin is the heart of the problem in this world. Christ's words were, "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword" (Matthew 10:34). This social gospel that many preach in his name has an erroneous aim or goal. It is not the message of Christ. Christ came to preach the gospel in order to save people from their sins and out of this dying world, Not to save the world. There is a slight, big difference. In this social gospel there is much compromising and walking together with the world (same as prosperity gospel). Its gospel is also not of God, but is so deceptive, or so in between (lukewarm), that one can barely tell. The message of this gospel is decent and seem well, but the Devil will destroy us with the good as long as we don’t see the problem.

The gospel of Christ – One will find very few who preaches Christ AND HIM CRUCIFIED. The gospel is a message of the cross. It is one of humility, dying unto one’s self, so that one may live unto God. The Bible says that he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin (I Peter 4:1). This gospel is one that takes God himself working within us to live. (With the other gospels, it does not require a child of God to live those messages. People who don’t even believe in God, go to church, nor tithe has billions of dollars. And, a lot of people who live ungodly lives do a lot of benevolent things – are even humanitarians.) This gospel of Christ requires the grace of God to live its promise. It is the good news that a way has been made for our redemption!

This book was read by me some years ago, but a portion of its content is yet fresh. The book simply addresses what all that Jesus Christ is, as stated by his very words found in the word. We need a proper identity of Christ in this day and time.

There is no link for this book provided by my bookshop, yet it is a great read. Do well.
