Quadrivium

Along the same lines as the previous book, this title also concerns Numbers. Many people get much from intermingling with what God has done. Quadrivium is not written from a biblical standpoint, where scriptures are involved or showcased. Its authors are simply elaborating and illustrating the magnificence of Numbers.

I walked into a bookstore, looked up at this book on the wall to my right, grabbed it, gazed upon it for a moment, and was sure to keep it in my possession from that moment. Somebody once said that all science is, is man trying to figure out what God has done. Truly, God is creative. His works and doings are stupendous. “Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite,” Psalm 147:5. Men spend minutes, hours, weeks, months, years dwelling on the works that God has done; because “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable” (Psalm 145:3). Coming to learn of God and glean from him is a lifelong endeavor. Moreover, grasping all that he has done throughout his creation is also expansive.

“The word ‘education’ comes from the Latin educere meaning ‘to lead out,’ pointing to the central doctrine that Socrates, under Plato’s pen, elucidated so clearly—Knowledge is an inherent and intrinsic part of our soul structure. The Trivium of language is structured on the cardinal and objective values of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. Its three subjects are Grammer, that ensures the good structure of language, Logic for finding truth, and Rhetoric for the beautiful use of language in expressing truth. The Quadrivium arises out of the most revered of all subjects available to the human mind—Number. The first of these disciplines we call Arithmetic, the second is Geometry or the order of space as Number in Space, the third is Harmony, which for Plato meant Number in Time, and the fourth is Astronomy, or Number in Space and Time. All these studies offer a safe and reliable ladder to reach the simultaneous values of the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. This in turn leads to the essential harmonious value of Wholeness.” – Foreword (page 3)

This book is simply a further study of Numbers. The Greeks were applauded for their wisdom; therefore, this title utilizes their findings and line of thought. It’s a big world, and many have occupied themselves with exploring aspects of its elements. If one desires this title because it is intriguing, support local bookstores and get yours here (Thanks!
